As well as offering private consultations and workshops, I also train sling peer supporters with Born to Carry. Born to Carry peer supporter courses cover:
- Sling safety
- Physiology of using slings
- Demonstrating and discussing safe sling use
- Practical carrying skills
- Assessing boundaries as a peer supporter
Completing a Born to Carry course will enable you to get insurance to practice as a sling peer supporter. The training is suitable for volunteering at a sling library, or for anyone who would like to incorporate sling use and demos in their current role, such as: midwives, doulas, antenatal and postnatal educators, health visitors and family support workers, nursery staff and childminders, osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists, SCBU and NICU staff … the list goes on! My co-trainer on these courses is Dr Azizah Attard, Director of Sling Clinic and Library; North London and a medical professional working in the NHS. We are both sling consultants and librarians with many years’ experience of supporting parents and caregivers to choose and use slings, and we’re happy to adapt our course to meet your needs. Please do get in touch to find out more, or to arrange a course.
